Airport Diagram
A home and hangout place for many pilots is a great place to start as a pilot. As a pilot, I've always liked the community and atmosphere at the San Carlos Airport with great flight schools around the field an awsome kitchen everyone should visit and some of the toughest traffic and noise abatement rules in the world. The San Carlos Airport has been around since the late 1900s with many modifications allowing for the Hiller Aviation Museum to become the field's hottest spot. The Field has a total of 4 Flight Schools, making it a perfect place to start your own aviation adventure. The EAA Chapter 20 is located in this field and has been providing free voluntary flights for children from ages 8 - 17 years of age but the volunteer team is always working to make sure there is an aviation-based activity for all ages. In the middle of the field, there is a gazebo where Pilots and Avgeeks can have lunch or just watch planes take off and land. In general, San Carlos Airport is, in my opinion, the best place to be to start flying.

EAA YOUNG EAGELS
have you ever thought that you'll never get the chance to fly in a small airplane and take flight lessons? Well, you're in luck, on every third Saturday of the month EAA's Chapter 20 Based at the San Carlos Airport runs the Young Eagles program. Where I volunteer my time to help run the flights since December of 2019. The EAA Young Eagles Program is a fantastic program for children of all ages. Eagles that are ages 8 to 17 are able to take Young Eagle Flights where a volunteer pilot takes up a group of young aspiring pilots to the great blue sky. During the event, there can be a large variety of aircraft from exciting experimental aircraft to the classic Cessna and Pipers. These flights usually run from 25 to 30 mins long, as pilots fly out to the practice area along the shores of Half Moon Bay. BUT WAIT! for children under the age of 8 the Chapter is thinking of finding ways to get them involved as well such as setting up flight simulators or printing out coloring pages. If you are thinking of flight training come to fly with the eagles and feel for yourself if flight training is something you want to do.
The Hiller Aviation Museum
The Hiller Aviation Museum is a favorite between pilots of San Carlos and is one of my favorite museums in the California Bay Area. The Hiller Aviation Museum has many activities such as open cockpit days to flight sims available daily. The museum also has summer aviation camps as I have taken many of these when I was young. They also have volunteer programs that you can join in on for both teenagers and adults. There are very few words to describe this amazing museum because you have to experience it for yourself to understand it.
San Carlos's
Airport Gazebo
Do you love watching airplanes go by? Well, I do, I most certainly love the airport's gazebo where you can eat lunch do work all while listening to the Air Traffic Control calls and watching the pilots do their takeoffs and landings. this is the perfect place to take your friends and family to just make sure to stay behind the solid yellow line to stay clear of any taxing aircraft.
